Being built in conjunction with British Motor Heritage, the LE50 (Limited Edition 50) has been created to deliver the charm, style and elegance of 1962, but to 2012 standards. This means not only an incredibly high level of production engineering, but also truly staggering performance, comfort, build-quality and reliability.
The LE50 will be hand built at the Frontline 'Special Works Division' in Abingdon-on-Thames using a highly developed, brand new monocoque chassis and powered by an all-new 215 bhp aluminium twin cam engine weighing a mere 85kg. Combine this with the new aluminium 6-speed manual gearbox, suspension, brakes, cooling system and even the seats, the reduction in weight of these cars is exceptional offering a power to weight ratio of 240 bhp per tonne.
A well mannered road car with a 0 - 60 mph time of 5 seconds and top speed of 160 mph is certainly something the original MG designers would be very proud of. With less weight and increased power delivery the chassis, suspension and braking systems have been completely re-engineered to offer unrivalled comfort as well as handling.
When it came to re-designing the interior of the LE50 quality, style and practicality were our key drivers. Created using only the finest materials, we have retained the original charm and elegance of the MG but taken it into a category more familiar with Aston Martin and Bentley owners.
Manufactured as a 2 seater GT car with a 2 + 2 version available as an option, the LE50 is not just a weekend sports car. Alcantara head lining, dash board and crash rail are standard fit with alcantara or Connolly hide covering seats, doors and interior panels. Wilton carpets hug the floors with a mass of billet alloy switch gear catching the eye on the dash. Entertainment is brought to you by Harmon Kardon and for those using the car through the seasons - heated seats, windscreens and air conditioning form part of the options list.
